It is easy to criticize The Ring of Fire, a series of films by Lorne and Lawrence Blair about their travels in Indonesia. They offer a rather romantic view of life on the islands. I’ll post it here, and call it a guilty pleasure. I include it as part of my documentation on my Indonesian studies as I’ve come back to the films time and again.
The best of them are volumes three and four, East of Krakatoa (mostly about Bali and Java) and The Dream Wanderers of Borneo.
And while it is easy to be skeptical of their work, there is no denying they saw some amazing things in Indonesia, and had some remarkably unique adventures.
